Is the hijacking of the cargo ship Arctic Sea IMO number 8912792 between the Swedish islands Öland and Gotland a result of our participation in the EU mission against sea piracy outside Somalia or is it a coincidence, a so called black swan. Piracy in the baltic sea is not a common issue nor has it happened before modern times.
One can believe that the cargo value of approximately $1.5m not is the main reason for the highjacking nor is the ship it self.
The ship was last seen in the English channel, and are believed to be seen outside Portuguese coast. It has not arrived to its destination port in Algeria nor has it approached the strait of Gibraltar according to BBC and ITAR-TASS.
